Erect Penis Size Average
Few things are sources of both discomfort and pride. For men, the size of their erect penis, if not at their desired length, can lead to a lot of shame and discomfort. On the other hand, the size can also lead to a sense of achievement or can be used as a source of boasting. Regardless of where one stands, here are the current facts based on research, erect penis size average in the US.
Research
While men often over exaggerate what the average length should be, the most recent research published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine has established the mean length of an erect penis as 5.57 inches. The research, led by Debby Herbenick, Ph.D., included the measurements of 1,661 American men. The researchers asked the participants to self-measure their length from the underside base to the tip. This may have increased non-sampling error because men have a tendency to lie about their penis size; however, it also allowed for more accurate results given that men did not have to arouse themselves in front of other strangers.
The result of this recent research is also supplemented with research conducted in 2007, and published in the British Journal of Urology, which claimed that the range for the mean length of an erect penis is from 5.5 inches to 6.2 inches.
Given that both major research results capture roughly the same range, it can be assumed that over half of men have a length of about 5.5 inches. This range can at times even be extended to the lower end of 1.57 inches to the higher end of 10.23 inches.
Take Away
Even though the length of an erect penis can be a huge source of insecurity for men, many men are still within the average range of length. However, if the length is providing a constant source of discomfort, procedures like the Penuma implant done by Dr. Elist can solve the problem – don’t let your length decrease your quality of life!
