Premature Ejaculation Linked to Chlamydia in Prostatitis Patients

Premature ejaculation is a condition in which a man experiences quick ejaculation with minimal sexual stimulation before or shortly after penetration. It is one of the most common medical conditions affecting men. In some men, rapid ejaculation has been linked to chlamydia prostatitis, which is a kind of urinary tract infection that gradually spreads to the genital and entire urinary system, if left untreated.

In men who suffer from Chlamydia trachomatis infection, which often causes chronic bacterial prostatitis, there is a higher likelihood of premature ejaculation. In fact, there is a high risk of men suffering from premature climax from Chlamydia-linked infection compared to chronic bacterial prostatitis (CBP) caused by other bacterial infections.

What is Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis

An infection of the prostate gland caused by a particular pathogen, known as Chlamydia trachomatis, CBP is a rare condition compared to other bacterial infection. However, it is a serious condition that causes urinary tract infection to relapse often.

Research links CBP to premature ejaculation, as it affects the prostate gland, which plays a leading role in the ejaculation process. In men who suffer from prostatitis caused by Chlamydia, the condition affects prostate fluid, which is crucial for producing semen. In such a condition, men with bad prostate fluid experience reduced motility of sperm cells.

Diagnosis of Chlamydia Prostatitis

The condition may be diagnosed with the help of Digital Rectal Examination (DRE).

DRE is performed to look for signs of abnormalities in the pelvic region, such as enlargement, excess growth, or lump/tumor in the prostate gland. During the test, the doctor inserts a lubricated finger into the rectum and presses the lower belly with the other hand.

Urine Test

A semen/urine test may be required to detect infection, presence of bacteria, parasite, or the number of white blood cells in the urine and semen. The test helps diagnose infection from chlamydia or any other pathogens in the body.

Other tests to diagnose a Chlamydia infection include

If left untreated, Chlamydia infection can cause infertility. The infection is caused through sexual activities. It is generally asymptomatic and the symptoms are hard to detect, though the most common signs of Chlamydia infection include

When the infection involves posterior urethra, it may affect the ejaculatory ducts, resulting in ejaculation problems, such as premature ejaculation, painful ejaculation, and difficulty maintaining an erection.

Antibiotic therapy is often used to treat prostatitis caused by Chlamydia infection.
